Skinny Raven Sports — Downtown

Skinny Raven Sports has been Alaska's premier running specialty retailer since 1994, and the downtown H Street location remains the go-to destination for serious and recreational runners across Anchorage. Unlike a general sporting goods chain, Skinny Raven carries a focused selection of technical running footwear and apparel — Altra, Salomon, On Running, Garmin, Superfeet, and Oofos — backed by in-depth product knowledge from a staff of active runners.

The professional shoe fitting process is a hallmark of the experience. Staff walk customers through bilateral foot measurement, gait analysis, arch support evaluation, and a conversation about training goals before recommending footwear. For runners dealing with specific biomechanics, injury history, or the challenges of Alaska's terrain and conditions, this expertise is genuinely difficult to replicate online or at a big-box store.

Community Running Programs

Skinny Raven is as much a community hub as it is a store. The Raven Run Club meets year-round as an all-abilities training group open to runners at every level. The shop also hosts Pub Run events and Kids Running programs throughout the year. The Twilight 12K — paired with the Skinny Mini 6K — is one of Anchorage's signature Friday evening races, held May 29, 2026. The store's house brand, Alaska Raven Performance Tech, offers apparel designed for Alaskan training conditions.

Open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM; closed Sunday. Located at 800 H Street in downtown Anchorage. A second location serves South Anchorage at 2727 W Dimond Blvd.
