Description

PicTours Alaska combines guided sightseeing with hands-on smartphone photography instruction, producing Anchorage experiences that participants can immediately share. Founded in 2017, the company operates small-group tours of 2–3.5 hours that move through some of Southcentral Alaska's most photogenic locations while a guide coaches guests through composition, lighting, and editing — no prior photography experience or special gear required.

Three signature tours depart from downtown Anchorage at 524 W 4th Ave. Nature's Rush travels the Seward Highway to Beluga Point, Bird Point, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, chasing dramatic Cook Inlet views and wildlife encounters along one of America's All-American Roads. Photo Bomb Alaska covers the floatplane operations at Lake Hood Seaplane Base — the world's busiest floatplane facility — alongside historic Anchorage log homes, a gold panning stop, and sweeping Turnagain Arm overlooks. Selfie Whirlwind hits ten of Anchorage's signature city landmarks in a single afternoon, ideal for visitors with limited time.

Each tour includes free photography lessons woven throughout, along with water and snacks. Guides adapt instruction to each guest's existing skill level, making the tours equally valuable for complete beginners and experienced smartphone photographers looking to sharpen their travel photography. Senior-friendly pacing and accessible stops make all three tours suitable for a wide range of guests, including cruise passengers on a port day.

At $239 per person, Nature's Rush is the flagship experience — roughly half the day, with stops timed around tidal bore and wildlife activity patterns. The Photography instruction component adds a skill takeaway that extends well beyond the tour itself.

Reservations are recommended. Tours operate approximately May through September to take advantage of Alaska's extended summer daylight. The office is located at 524 W 4th Ave in downtown Anchorage, within walking distance of Ship Creek and the waterfront trail system.
