Description

Alaska's Premier Nordic Skiing Destination

Kincaid Park Winter Sports Center transforms into Alaska's premier Nordic skiing destination each winter, offering world-class cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and biathlon training on 60+ kilometers of professionally groomed trails. Perfect snow awaits. Home to Olympic-caliber facilities and frequent host of national competitions, Kincaid delivers exceptional winter recreation for all skill levels.

Cross-Country Skiing Excellence

The extensive trail system features both classic track and skate skiing options, with daily professional grooming from December through March. Beginner-friendly loops near the chalet provide gentle introduction to Nordic skiing, while challenging backcountry routes extend throughout the 1,400-acre park. Ready for adventure? Trail difficulty ranges from easy 2-kilometer loops to advanced 15-kilometer circuits through varied winter terrain.

Snowshoeing Adventures

Designated snowshoe trails separate from ski tracks offer peaceful winter forest exploration and wildlife viewing opportunities. Multiple route options accommodate different fitness levels and time commitments, from 30-minute nature walks to 3-hour wilderness adventures. Wildlife encounters guaranteed. Wide trails with excellent sight lines enhance safety for moose and winter wildlife encounters.

Winter Facilities & Services

The Kincaid Park Chalet serves as winter activity headquarters, providing heated restrooms, trail maps, daily grooming reports, and warming areas for extended outdoor sessions. Multiple maintained parking areas ensure reliable winter access, with snow removal prioritized for visitor convenience. Free parking year-round.

Equipment & Preparation

While on-site rentals aren't available, several Anchorage outdoor retailers offer cross-country ski and snowshoe equipment. Alaska Mountaineering & Hiking, REI, and Sportsman's Warehouse provide quality rental options and expert fitting services. What's your winter goal? Winter visitors should dress in layers, carry emergency supplies, and inform others of planned routes.

Competition & Events

Kincaid Park hosts Alaska's premier biathlon training facilities, including shooting ranges and specialized competition trails. The venue regularly hosts regional and national Nordic skiing competitions, making it a destination for serious winter sports athletes and spectators alike. Champions train here. Event schedules available on the park website during winter season.

Whether you're learning Nordic skiing basics or training for competitive events, Kincaid Park Winter Sports Center offers Alaska's finest winter recreation facilities with professional-grade grooming and diverse terrain options.
