Dew Mound Trail

The trail begins at Eagle River Nature Center and initially follows the historic Iditarod Trail south through diverse terrain including muskeg, riparian wetlands, forest, and open meadows. You'll transition from the well-known Crow Pass Trail to the more rugged Dew Mound Trail, which offers a different character - narrower paths, rootier sections, rockier terrain, and more significant elevation gain compared to the center's easier trails.

Your destination is a large glacial erratic called Dew Mound, along with beautiful Dew Lake that reflects the surrounding peaks. The trail provides multiple viewpoints of Eagle River Valley, making it perfect for photography enthusiasts and those seeking solitude in Alaska's pristine wilderness. The Nature Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the trails are open year-round.
