Description

The Alaska SeaLife Center stands as Alaska's only permanent marine mammal rehabilitation facility and public aquarium, offering visitors an unparalleled window into the diverse marine ecosystems of the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea. Located in the picturesque port town of Seward, this world-class facility combines cutting-edge research, wildlife rehabilitation, and immersive public education.

Visitors encounter Alaska's marine wildlife through massive viewing windows and interactive exhibits featuring Steller sea lions, harbor seals, sea otters, and puffins in naturalistic habitats. The center's unique approach allows guests to observe both permanent resident animals and wildlife patients undergoing rehabilitation, providing authentic insights into Alaska marine conservation efforts.

Educational programming includes behind-the-scenes tours, feeding demonstrations, and encounters with marine biologists actively engaged in research and rehabilitation work. The Discovery Touch Tank offers hands-on experiences with sea stars, anemones, and other intertidal creatures, while the seabird aviary provides close encounters with iconic Alaskan puffins and murres.

The center's location in Seward makes it an ideal day trip from Anchorage, perfectly positioned for combining with scenic Resurrection Bay boat tours or Kenai Fjords National Park visits. Year-round operations ensure wildlife encounters regardless of season, with indoor climate-controlled exhibits providing comfort during any weather conditions. This combination of authentic wildlife rehabilitation, world-class exhibits, and Alaska marine education makes the SeaLife Center essential for understanding Alaska's ocean ecosystems.
