Description

Alaska Sausage and Seafood has been a fixture of Anchorage's Spenard neighborhood since 1972, operating as the city's definitive source for Alaska-made specialty meats, smoked seafood, and food gifts worth bringing home or shipping across the country. Located on Arctic Boulevard, the shop functions as both a production facility and retail storefront — the sausages and smoked products are made on-site using Alaska-sourced ingredients and traditional smoking methods.

The flagship product is reindeer sausage, and Alaska Sausage and Seafood is widely credited with cementing reindeer sausage as a quintessential Anchorage food experience. The link sausage is mild, slightly gamey, and distinctly Alaskan — sold fresh and in smoked and dried forms. It shows up at Anchorage hot dog carts and breakfast spots across the city, but the Arctic Boulevard shop is where locals go for larger quantities and a wider selection of preparations.

The smoked salmon and halibut offerings are equally serious. Sockeye and king salmon are available whole-fillet smoked, as vacuum-sealed portions sized for gifting, and in combination gift boxes designed for shipping. The shop handles all USDA-certified packaging and ships nationwide, making it a practical option for visitors who want to bring Alaska seafood home without dealing with airport logistics. Smoked halibut, smoked black cod (sablefish), and pickled salmon round out the seafood counter.

Beyond the flagship products, the shop carries a rotating selection of Alaska game meats, specialty jerky, salmon spreads, and local condiments. The retail floor operates as a working deli counter — products are cut to order, and staff can advise on shipping options, shelf life, and product pairings. Gift boxes combining sausage and smoked seafood are popular purchases for visitors who want a single package representing the breadth of Alaska's protein larder.

Alaska Sausage and Seafood is located at 2914 Arctic Boulevard in Spenard. Current hours and shipping information are available at alaskasausage.com or by phone at (907) 562-3636.
