Description

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots are one of the most storied franchises in summer collegiate baseball, competing in the Alaska Baseball League since 1969 and accumulating five National Baseball Congress World Series championships along the way. Named in honor of Bob Reeve — the legendary "Glacier Pilot" who helped pioneer bush aviation in Alaska — the team has become a beloved institution in Anchorage and a genuine summer attraction for visitors to the state.

Home games are played at Mulcahy Stadium on East Northern Lights Boulevard, a classic community ballpark with grandstand seating, bleachers, and a beer patio with capacity for more than 5,000 fans. The season runs through June and July, and games typically begin at 7 PM — but thanks to Alaska's extraordinary summer daylight, that means playing under a sky that can still be bright at 10 PM. The phenomenon of baseball under the midnight sun is a genuinely Alaskan experience that draws visitors who have never seen anything quite like it.

The Alaska Baseball League is a showcase for the nation's top college players, and Glacier Pilots rosters consistently feature prospects from major Division I programs. Many former Pilots have gone on to professional careers in the major leagues, giving the franchise a tradition of competitive, high-quality play that belies its summer collegiate status. Games are fast-paced and family-friendly, with the casual, community-centered atmosphere of a minor league ballgame combined with genuine college-level talent on the field.

Season passes are available for $85 and are valid for all home games. Individual game tickets can be purchased at the stadium box office. The 2026 home schedule and ticket information are posted at glacierpilots.com. The organization is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), and attendance directly supports the players' housing and transportation during their Anchorage stay.

For visitors to Anchorage in June or July, catching a Glacier Pilots game at Mulcahy Stadium is one of the best value-for-experience activities in the city. The combination of legitimate baseball talent, a cheerful local crowd, cold beer, and a sky that refuses to go dark makes for an evening that is distinctly, memorably Alaskan.
