Description
Alaska Airlines Center is Anchorage's premier indoor multi-purpose arena, a modern 5,000-seat facility that opened in September 2014 on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in the U-Med District on Providence Drive. Since opening, it has established itself as the go-to destination for the city's biggest indoor events — from NCAA basketball to nationally touring concerts and comedy shows.
The arena is home to the UAA Seawolves Basketball program, hosting both the men's and women's teams in NCAA Division II competition. Game nights draw enthusiastic crowds and offer a uniquely Alaska take on college basketball: intense, community-oriented, and backed by a fanbase that genuinely cares. The season typically runs from October through March, with additional conference and tournament games adding to the schedule.
Beyond basketball, Alaska Airlines Center hosts a diverse calendar of events throughout the year. Major touring acts, comedy performances, graduation ceremonies, trade shows, and corporate events have all taken place in the arena's flexible venue space. The building's modern infrastructure — excellent sightlines, strong acoustics, and robust event production capabilities — makes it equally well-suited for intimate comedy shows and large-scale concerts. Matt Rife's Stay Golden World Tour is scheduled for August 22, 2026, as an example of the caliber of touring acts the arena attracts.
Accessibility is a priority. The venue features wheelchair seating, a public elevator, and assistive listening devices. Approximately 500 parking spaces are available in the main lot, with additional free parking in nearby lots on evenings and weekends. Tickets are available through the arena's official site, Ticketmaster, and TicketSmarter.
Box office and event hours vary by event. Contact the arena at (907) 786-1250 or visit alaskaairlinescenter.com for the current event schedule.
