Description
Alaska Wild Guides is a family-owned adventure tour company based in Girdwood, Alaska, offering some of the most exhilarating motorized wilderness experiences in southcentral Alaska. From their base at the foot of the Chugach Mountains, they send small groups out to explore the remote glaciated backcountry in ways that are simply impossible on foot or on the water — by snowmobile and by glacier jet ski, depending on the season.
The signature winter offering is the Spencer Glacier Snowmobile Tour (from 50, approximately 5 hours, ages 8+), which takes guests through the Chugach backcountry on a guided snowmobile run to one of the most accessible glaciers in Alaska. The Turnagain Pass Snowmobile tour (from 75, 4 hours) is another popular option, covering dramatic high-alpine terrain with sweeping views of Cook Inlet and the Kenai Peninsula. For an even more immersive multi-day experience, the Alaska Explorer covers five days of backcountry snowmobile travel through some of the most remote terrain in the state.
When the snow melts, the Glacier Jet-Ski Tour (from 60, 4 hours, ages 8+) replaces the snowmobiles. Guests ride personal watercraft through the icy waters near Spencer Glacier, navigating among icebergs and alongside the towering blue wall of the glacier face — a perspective you'd be hard-pressed to replicate in any other way. Guides keep groups small throughout the year to ensure every guest gets personalized attention and consistent safety oversight.
Alaska Wild Guides operates year-round from 194 Olympic Mountain Loop in Girdwood, about 40 minutes south of Anchorage. Tours are available Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 8 PM. Book online or call for group and seasonal availability.
