Description
Cuddy Family Midtown Park is a 15.4-acre green space in the heart of Anchorage's midtown district, offering year-round recreation for families, seniors, and residents of all abilities. Named in honor of longtime Anchorage civic leader Chester A. Cuddy, the park blends inclusive design with active amenities rarely found in urban parks.
The centerpiece is the Playground for All — an all-abilities inclusive playground designed to welcome children and visitors with physical, cognitive, and sensory differences alongside their peers. The accessible play structure includes adaptive swings, ramps, and sensory panels set on a rubberized surface that accommodates wheelchairs and strollers.
In winter, the park comes alive around its speed skating oval, which attracts skaters of all levels when temperatures permit natural ice formation. Skaters share the grounds with walkers and joggers enjoying the surrounding paths, making it a lively cold-season gathering spot.
The outdoor amphitheater hosts community events, summer concerts, and performances throughout the warmer months, serving as a neighborhood gathering point in the heart of midtown. A small lagoon adds seasonal wildlife-watching opportunities, particularly for migratory waterfowl passing through.
Maintained by the Municipality of Anchorage Parks and Recreation, Cuddy Family Midtown Park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM and is free to enter. Parking is available nearby, and the park is accessible by bike via the city's connected trail network. Whether you're looking for a family afternoon, a winter skate, or a community concert, Cuddy Family Midtown Park is a welcoming green escape in Anchorage's busy midtown corridor.
