Description

Go Dog Sled Alaska brings the spirit of the Iditarod to Anchorage summers with authentic dryland sled dog tours at historic Tozier Track. Led by Robert Redington — grandson of Joe Redington Sr., the legendary "Father of the Iditarod" — this operation blends generations of mushing heritage with a hands-on summer experience unlike anything else in Alaska.

Operating from May through August, Go Dog Sled Alaska uses specialized wheeled sleds on the packed surface of Tozier Track, the iconic racetrack at 4800 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. where Anchorage mushers have trained for generations. Guests witness firsthand the power, speed, and teamwork of elite sled dogs in a setting that shaped Alaska's most famous race.

Each 60-minute tour begins with an intimate introduction to the racing team. Guests are invited to meet and interact with the dogs and puppies — curious, energetic athletes raised and trained for Alaska's greatest trails. The session continues with a live dryland demonstration as the team launches into action on the historic track, a reminder of what makes these dogs so extraordinary. The highlight of every tour: a short ride of approximately a quarter mile, pulled by the team across the racetrack where legends were made.

Tours run five times daily — 9 AM, 10:30 AM, 12 PM, 1:30 PM, and 3 PM — and are kept deliberately small. Groups max out at 8 guests, ensuring every visitor receives personal attention from the musher and plenty of time with the dogs. Children as young as 2 are welcome, making this an ideal family outing.

Adult tickets are $99; children ages 2 through 10 are $79. Advance booking is required, as spots fill quickly during peak summer season. Visit godogsledalaska.com to secure your spot.

Whether visiting Anchorage for a day or spending a season in Alaska, Go Dog Sled Alaska delivers an authentic slice of mushing culture that is impossible to replicate anywhere else — rooted in history, alive in summer, and unforgettable at every age.
