Description
Salted Roots Basecamp is Downtown Anchorage's boutique stay at 508 W 2nd Ave — 10 thoughtfully designed rooms across four types, each with a full kitchen for self-sufficient explorers. Opened in 2024, the property quickly earned a loyal following on Instagram (20K followers) for its design-forward aesthetic and Alaska-rooted ethos.
The name is intentional. "Basecamp" signals how Salted Roots approaches the accommodations experience: this is a staging ground for adventure, not a destination competing with the outdoors. Guests arrive with gear, itineraries, and a sense of purpose — and the property is designed to support that energy. Full kitchens allow self-catering, which matters when you return from a glacier hike and want to cook fresh Alaska seafood rather than find a restaurant at 9 PM.
On-site amenities include an on-site yoga studio, the Kaffe Klatsch café — a neighborhood fixture in its own right, drawing morning regulars from surrounding blocks — and the newly opened Little Rituals café (2026), which adds a cocktail and wine component to the evening hours. Free parking included. Pet-friendly on ground-floor units ($60 fee). Rates run $120–$420/night depending on season and room type.
Located at 508 W 2nd Avenue in Downtown Anchorage, Salted Roots Basecamp is within walking distance of the Ship Creek waterfront, the Coastal Trail entrance at Elderberry Park, and the city's best restaurants. The sister property Salted Roots Seward is available for multi-stop Alaska itineraries. Check-in at 4pm via contactless entry; check-out 11am.
