Jewel Lake Bowling Center

Jewel Lake Bowling Center has been a west Anchorage fixture since 1980, occupying the category of community bowling alley in the best sense — reliably open, well-maintained, and set up for regulars who bowl multiple times a week as well as drop-in families looking for a couple of hours of indoor entertainment. The facility is at 8801 Jewel Lake Road, close enough to the Jewel Lake neighborhood and the west Anchorage residential areas to feel genuinely local.

Extreme Bowling and Events

Jewel Lake runs Extreme Bowling nights on weekend evenings — the lights go down, blacklights and neon come on, and the lanes take on a different character than afternoon open bowling. It’s the most popular format for groups, birthday parties, and anyone who wants the bowling experience with an extra layer of atmosphere. Youth bowling parties are also a signature offering, with packages designed for groups that include dedicated lane time and optional food.

Open Bowling and Leagues

The standard open bowling schedule runs afternoon through late night on weekdays and extends to 2:30 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. League play is a significant part of the operation — Jewel Lake has youth leagues, adult leagues, and mixed formats that draw regulars year-round. Rental shoes and ball selection are available at the front desk.

Getting There

The center is on Jewel Lake Road in the western part of Anchorage, accessible from Dimond Boulevard and the main west Anchorage arterials. Parking is available on site. The location works for visitors staying in the airport corridor or south Anchorage who want an evening activity that doesn’t require driving downtown.
