The Bridge Company

Seasonal Alaskan fine dining on a historic 1920s railroad bridge over Ship Creek's salmon run

Description

The Bridge Company occupies one of Anchorage's most unusual dining locations — a restored 1920s railroad bridge spanning Ship Creek, where salmon run directly beneath your table during summer months. This seasonal fine dining restaurant, open Thursday through Saturday from late spring through early fall, offers an experience that is equal parts culinary destination and Alaskan spectacle.

Chef and co-owner Lexa Joy leads a kitchen focused on Alaskan seafood prepared with precision and creativity. The menu changes with the catch and the season, emphasizing what is fresh, local, and available right now. Dinner includes an unlimited appetizer bar — a distinctive touch that sets the tone for a generous, unhurried evening. The seafood-forward approach makes sense given the setting: you are dining above one of Anchorage's most active waterways, watching the same salmon that may have inspired tonight's menu.

The Bridge Company is Korean and woman-owned, and that personal investment shows in the details — from the thoughtful service to the curated atmosphere that makes the most of the bridge's industrial-historic character. The space feels both raw and refined, with the creek and surrounding mountains providing a backdrop that no interior designer could replicate.

The restaurant is open Thursday through Saturday from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM during summer season only. Catering services are available year-round. Located at 221 W Ship Creek Avenue in downtown Anchorage, near the Alaska Railroad depot. Parking is available in the Ship Creek area lots. Reservations are strongly recommended given the limited seasonal schedule and seating capacity.

For a dining experience that could only exist in Alaska — fine food on a century-old bridge above a salmon stream — The Bridge Company is unlike anything else in Anchorage.
