Description
O'Malley Ice Center — officially the Kelley Create Ice Center — is South Anchorage's premier indoor ice facility, anchoring the O'Malley Sports Complex at 11111 O'Malley Centre Drive. Two full NHL-regulation ice surfaces support a packed year-round calendar that ranges from public skating and youth hockey to adult leagues, training camps, and drop-in sessions.
Hockey is the heartbeat of the complex. The South Anchorage Hockey Association runs Learn to Skate, Mite, Recreational, and Competitive programs for youth players, while adult leagues including Premier and RAHL competitive play, pond hockey, and drop-in Stick & Puck sessions fill ice time throughout the year. The Hockey House Training Center on the second level provides off-ice skill development using modern training technology, letting players sharpen their stick-handling and shooting between rink sessions. Summer doesn't slow the complex down — Pro Ambitions Hockey Camp and invite-only 49er Summer Hockey sessions keep the rinks active through the warmer months.
For beginners and casual skaters, the Learn to Skate program builds ice fundamentals from the first stride, and Freestyle skating sessions give more advanced skaters open practice time without league traffic. Public open skate sessions welcome all ages, making O'Malley Ice Center a practical choice for families seeking a winter outing in South Anchorage.
The Blue Line Pub & Cafe sits upstairs in the Kelley Create building, offering a full menu and cold beverages in a family-friendly atmosphere — an ideal vantage point for watching rink action below or warming up after a session. Full locker room facilities, meeting spaces, and an indoor walking and jogging track round out the on-site amenities.
Adjacent to the ice building, the O'Malley Sports Center handles indoor court sports including volleyball, basketball, and pickleball, creating a one-stop recreation campus that serves South Anchorage families and athletes year-round.
