Description
49th State Brewing's Rail location opened in 2025 next to the Alaska Railroad Depot at 721 Depot Dr, bringing their signature craft brewing to downtown Anchorage's transit hub. With 37 taps — house brews plus local favorites — and a sustainably sourced Alaskan menu anchored by fire-baked sorisso sandwiches, it's both a great pre-train stop and a destination in its own right.
The Rail location represents 49th State's most ambitious permanent installation. The taproom occupies a purpose-built space next to the historic depot — a building serving as Anchorage's connection to the Interior since the railroad began freight and passenger service in 1923. The draft list rotates across 49th State's portfolio of house-brewed ales, lagers, and seasonals alongside curated Alaska guest taps. The brewery's sourcing philosophy leans toward Alaska ingredients wherever possible — wild spruce tips, birch syrup, and locally foraged botanicals make appearances in seasonal releases. Growler fills and canned beer to-go are available for travelers heading north on the train or continuing by road.
The space features Nordic design, production facility glass views, a beer garden with scenic train platform views, and an intimate private event venue for 40–60 guests. A packaged store stocks Alaska's finest beverages for the road. The layout works equally well for a solo pint before boarding or a full group dining session.
Open Wednesday through Sunday from 3pm, Monday and Tuesday from 11am. Located at 721 Depot Dr adjacent to the Alaska Railroad Depot.
