Alaska Dance Theatre

Alaska Dance Theatre is Anchorage's premier nonprofit dance organization and the only dance studio in the city purpose-built for dance. Founded in 1981, ADT has spent more than four decades fostering the love of movement through world-class education, professional-caliber performances, and a deep commitment to community — earning First Place in the Anchorage Daily News' Best of Alaska awards and recognition as the #1 dance school by the Anchorage Press.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum spanning Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Broadway, and Acrobatics for students from 18 months through adult. Every level is taught in a facility designed specifically for dance — sprung floors, proper mirrors, and acoustics that support both technique and artistry in a way that no converted studio can match. Students are guided by a faculty committed to both technical rigor and the joy of movement.

Alaska Dance Theatre's performance season is a highlight of Anchorage's arts calendar. The MainStage Series brings three full-scale concerts each season to the Discovery Theatre at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. The annual School Showcase fills the iconic Atwood Concert Hall each May, giving students of every level a chance to perform on one of Alaska's most celebrated stages. The organization also produces intimate Black Box Theatre productions and coordinates the annual Nutcracker in partnership with the Anchorage Concert Association.
