The festival kicks off with Girdwood's famous community parade, where visitors are welcome to join the colorful procession through town. Three separate music stages feature local and visiting artists throughout the weekend, covering everything from folk and bluegrass to contemporary Alaska music. The fair's friendly beer garden serves as a central gathering spot where visitors can enjoy locally brewed ales while soaking in the festival atmosphere.

Performances range from captivating tightrope walkers to mesmerizing fire throwers, ensuring entertainment for all ages. Vendors showcase authentic Alaskan crafts including Native artwork, handmade jewelry, pottery, and woodwork alongside food booths serving everything from reindeer sausage to international cuisine with an Alaska twist.

Located at the Forest Fairgrounds on Mile 2.2 of the Alyeska Highway, the fair takes place in Girdwood's community park area, surrounded by towering spruce trees and mountain views. The scenic 40-mile drive from Anchorage offers stunning Turnagain Arm vistas, or visitors can take the convenient $5 shuttle service from Anchorage.

What makes the Girdwood Forest Fair uniquely Alaskan is its authentic community spirit and "No Dogs ~ No Politics ~ No Religious Orders" motto that keeps the focus on art, music, and good times. It's where Alaska's creative community gathers to celebrate summer in one of the state's most picturesque settings.
